Raymond T. “Pop” Vanaman | Raymond T. “Pop” Vanaman was born in Cape May New Jersey in 1922. He served in the US Navy in WWII. After discharge he moved to Walter Ave in Delanco. Ray taught industrial arts and coached in Delanco Schools from 1950 to 1990 and was affectionally known as "Pop". It was at Walnut Street School that he met Joy Lippincott, who he married in 1951. They were active in Dobbins Memorial Church and their community, including Delanco Senior Citizens. Ray was active with Boy Scout Troop 19 programs in Delanco and established Sea Explorer Ship 19 here. Pop used his navy connections to procure equipment and uniforms for the program. Pop was honored by Delanco HPAB and the "boys" from his many scout programs on December 11, 2011.
